Here is the pattern for Moroccan crochet square #1

 

Colours used: Vinnis Colours Nikkim DK (50 g balls): Baby Yellow, Kingfisher, Cloud Blue, Green Slate and White.

Crochet hook: 3,25 mm

 

Abbreviations (American Terminology) and stitch explanations:

beg = begin, ch = chain, dc = double crochet, gp = group, hdc = half double crochet,  rep = repeat, rnd = round, sc = single crochet, ss = slip stitch, sp = space, st = stitch, tog = together.

 

Puff stitch:

1. Wrap the yarn over the hook.
2. Insert the hook in the stitch and draw a loop the length of a dc.
3. Wrap the yarn over the hook and draw a loop in the same stitch, twice.
4. Wrap the yarn over the hook and draw through all the loops.
5. Wrap the yarn over the hook and pull it through the loop on the hook to secure the puff stitch.

 

Spike stitch:

1. Insert the hook through the work at the place indicated by the pattern.
2. Wrap the yarn over the hook and pull the loop to the front.
3. Complete the stitch as usual. Do not pull the yarn too tight or it will deform the work.

Pattern:

With Baby Yellow, crochet 4 ch, join into ring with ss in 1^st ch.

1^st rnd: 1 ch, 8 sc in ring, ss in 1^st sc.

2^nd rnd: 3 ch, 2 dc-puff st in the same st, 1 ch, *3 dc-puff st in next sc, 1 ch; rep from * to end, ss in top of beg-puff st. Fasten off.

3^rd rnd: with Kingfisher; join yarn in 1 ch-sp, 1 ch, 3 sc in the same sp, 1 sc in next puff st, *3 sc in next 1 ch-sp, 1 sc in next puff st; rep from * to end, ss in beg-sc = 32 sc. Fasten off.

4^th rnd: with Cloud Blue; 1 ch, 1 sc in the same st, 3 ch, skip 1 sc, *1 sc in next sc, 3 ch, skip 1 sc; rep from * to end, ss in beg-sc = 16 sps. Fasten off.

5^th rnd: with Green Slate; fold work to the front and join yarn in any sc skipped in rnd 4, 3 ch, 1 dc in the same st, 2 dc in every sc skipped in rnd 4 to end, ss in top of beg-3 ch. Fasten off.
